Sorolla in 100 Objects

From 13 May, the Sorolla Museum is hosting an exhibition that offers an insight into the painter Joaquín Sorolla, one of the most famous painters of his time and his art, through a selection of his paintings and his collections.

Joaquín Sorolla Bastida stood out as one of the most renowned artists of his time and his artistic legacy continues to be highly valued in our culture even a century after his death.

Over the last three decades, extensive research has been carried out that delves into the various dimensions of Sorolla: his love of the Mediterranean, his persistent exploration of light and authenticity. Despite this, Sorolla the person, including his character, hobbies, social circle and mentors, still remain anonymous to most.

Curated by Covadonga Pitarch Angulo, the exhibition seeks to reveal the artist through a careful selection of his works and personal collections. The exhibition aims is to present a new perspective, without clichés, that highlights different aspects of his work, his existence and his artistic production. It aspires to unravel not only the painter, but also the individual: the father, the husband, the colleague and the world-class creator.
