The prestigious Swedish soprano, Nina Stemme, will be performing a concert on 26 May at the Teatro Real with some scenes of works by Richard Wagner. More specifically, they are: Prelude and Liebestod de Tristan und Isolde, Das Liebesmahl der Apostel and the final scene of Götterdämmerung
Born in Stockholm (Sweden) in 1963, Nina Stemme is a lyrical-dramatic singer who studied Economics and Business Administration at the University of Stockholm and singing at the Operastudio in the Swedish capital and completed her artistic studies at the National College of Opera.
She has specialised in Wagner's compositions and, since her debut in Cortona (Italy) in 1989, having performed in the world's leading opera houses, including the Kungliga Operan in Stockholm, the Vienna Opera House, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Gran Teatro del Liceo in Barcelona, the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the San Francisco Opera, among others.
She was awarded the Litteris et Artibus medal by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden in 2008, the Abbiati Critics Prize in 2010, the International Opera Prize for the best female singer in 2013 and the Birgit Nilsson Prize in 2018. She is also a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.
