The first edition of the Guitar Festival will be held at the Teatros del Canal from 30 April to 4 May, bringing together the leading figures from today’s guitar scene, such as Rafael Riqueni, Gerardo Núñez, Alfredo Lagos and Alejandro Hurtado. This event is divided into four guitar, song and dance galas, and a further three with speakers, round tables and recitals.
This new festival is organised by the Community of Madrid and its first edition takes the Spanish flamenco guitarist and composer, Ramón Montoya , as a reference. The round table and the concert flamenco guitar that opens the festival on 30 April will be dedicated to him. It will be moderated by the journalist, Pedro Calvo, with the participation of the writer, journalist and producer, José Manuel Gamboa; the journalist and guitar teacher, Pablo San Nicasio; Víctor Monge Serranito and Amalia Ramírez. Then, Agustín Carbonell El Bola, will also perform a recital with songs by Ramón Montoya.
On the other hand, the expert in sound heritage and digitalisation, Carlos Martín Balleste will talk about The steps of the Flamenco Guitar. The lead guitar on the phonograph and gramophone on 1 May, followed by a concert performed by Dúo del Mar, which is made up of Marta Robles and Ekaterina Záitseva. On 2 May, José Manuel Gamboa will give the presentation The Others. Discovery of the Madrid flamenco guitar saints, focusing on Vicente Gómez, Carlos Montoya, Luis Yance or Agustín Castellón Sabicas. This will be followed by a concert by the guitar player, José Carlos Gómez.
Under the slogan The Guitar in Concert, leading musicians of this flamenco instrument will participate in this Festival, as is the case of the veterans: Rafael Riqueni, Gerardo Núñez and Alfredo Lagos , and the young musician: Alejandro Hurtado , featuring in the four galas that will be held in the Green Hall at Teatros del Canal.
