The leading festival with different styles and musical proposals will celebrate its eighth edition on 24 and 25 May, with performances by great artists on the music scene. An event for an ever increasing restless audience, for all those fans of the essence of what is authentic, fascinating and ever-lasting, which will be held at the Caja Mágica this year. The line-up features performances by groups like Phoenix, The Blaze, Belle and Sebastian, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Editors, Villagers and Joe Goddard, among many others.
The eighth edition of the festival has confirmed an initial round of international performances without forgetting national talent, whereby the countdown has begun to enjoy one of the most loved festivals in Madrid. Proof of this are the awards bestowed on the Tomavistas Festival in 2023, of which the City’s Best Event or Festival at the Time Out Madrid Culture Awards, and Best Small Format Festival at the Fest Awards stand out. It has also been nominated in the category of Best Medium Format Festival at the Iberian Festival Awards.
In the 2024 edition, it has a new venue, Caja Mágica, which has space for more stages, more bands and more hours of music, whilst maintaining the personal style that characterises Tomavistas. For yet another year, it has the support of Vibra Mahou, the Mahou Cinco Estrellas music platform that promotes live events.
Heading the festival’s line-up is the French band, The Blaze who are coming to Madrid for the first time. This acclaimed electronic music duo will present their latest album, Jungle, which was released in 2023 and follows in the wake of their first album.
Phoenix will be back in Madrid after an absence of six years. They have only played in Madrid on three occasions during their career spanning more than 25 years and the fourth time will be at this festival, presenting their repertoire of immortal hits, as well as their latest album, Alpha Zulu (2022).
With almost 30 years under its belt, the Scottish indie pop group Belle and Sebastian will not miss the event and will be performing one of its three concerts in Spain, the only one in Madrid in 2024. In this concert, they will review their extensive repertoire and present their two latest albums, A Bit of Previous (2022) and Late Developers (2023).
The presence of the emblematic band, The Jesus and Mary Chain can also be highlighted, in which they are celebrating their anniversary. The Scottish duo have been together for 40 years in 2024 and are celebrating it with a new album, Glasgow Eyes, which they are presenting exclusively at Tomavistas.
The wide musical offer is rounded off with more artists, such as Editors, Villagers, Joe Goddard, Dinosaur Jr, Alizzz, Dry Cleaning, Bodega, La Luz, Los Planetas (celebrating the 30th anniversary of Super8), Hurray for the Riff Raff , Baiuca, Standstill and Derby Motoreta's Burrito Kachimba, among many others.
With a carefully selected programme and a surprisingly stylistic variety, Tomavistas has become a synonym of innovation. Without falling under any single genre, the festival has managed to create its own identity, rather than following the guidelines marked by the musical market. It is an opportunity to enjoy music in its maximum expression, making the event a unique and once-in-a-lifetime experience.
